We also do everything we can to reduce false alarms, from our sensitive smoke detectors to trained operators. And if there is a false alarm? It is no big deal. Just tell the operator that it’s a false alarm and they will wish you a great day and disconnect. Plus, it is even easier to reset than a regular fire alarm – no more climbing on stepstools while plugging your ears!
What is a monitored smoke detector?
Alert1’s monitored smoke detectordoes so much more than simply make noise. They work together with Alert1’s senior medical alert system to provide you with 24/7 monitoring. This means your home will be protected 24/7, even if you are not home.
Our smoke detector’s monitoring works much like our home medical alert. If the smoke detector senses smoke, it will immediately call theAlert1 Command Center in addition to sounding a very loud alarm. A trained operator will come over the medical alarm base unit to ask if you are okay. With Alert1 you get unlimited talk time, so if it’s a false alarm you can both go on your way with you problems. If there is a fire, Alert1 will call the fire department to come help you. They will also call the responders in your Circle of Care so that they know what is happening.
If you are not home, we will call your phone. If we do not reach you, we will call your responders. If we do not get a response, we will 911. If you are not home it is not just you burning toast.
Emergency monitoring adds a personal touch to senior care. Alert1 helps guide seniors though any emergencies that occur, big or small. We can call 911 for you and tell them your address and the situation. How do monitored smoke detectors prevent false alarms?
Alert1’s sensitive smoke detectors have been designed to reduce the risk of false alarms. But if there is a false alarm, simply tell the Alert1 operator that there is no emergency. No extra charges, no worries. As an added bonus, there’s no need to fetch the stepladder to take the batteries out of the fire detector – the operator will take care of turning the alarm off for you.
Our monitored smoke detectors are an improved version of alarm you currently have in your home. We have replaced the regular ionization detectors with photoelectric detectors. The sensors in our alarm are less likely to off during regular cooking.
The batteries in our fire alarms last for at least 3 years to minimize the amount of time you need to spend on stepladders changing the batteries. We also made the alarm extra loud at 95 decibels. You will definitely hear this alarm!
The most important part of Alert1’s fire alarm is its connection to the Alert1 Command Center. We help prevent false alarms by introducing the human element. We will ask you if there is a false alarm. Simple as that. If it is a false alarm, there’s no problem and we will disconnect. If there is a fire, we will be there to help you with the situation and will call 911 for you. With unlimited talk time there are no extra charges for false alarms. We want to make sure you are safe.
What about if you don’t answer the operator through the POM base unit? We will call your phone. And from there? You get the opportunity to set up a secondary notifier list of people we will call in the event you do not pick up your phone. We will get our instructions from them. If somehow neither you nor any of your responders pick up the phone, we will call 911. With these layers of protection we further avoid sending emergency responders to your home for a false alarm.
It is better to be safe than sorry. It is our job to protect you and your home. If we do not get confirmation from you that it is a false alarm, we will call 911. It is unlikely to be a false alarm if you are not even home. We do everything in our power to prevent false alarms while being completely ready in case there is an emergency.
