DIY #1: Flag Banner

If you’re looking for DIY decor that really says something, this project is perfect for you. Although this DIY is great for the holidays, you can change the design to fit any occasion.
Supplies needed:
- Colored construction paper
- Any kind of string or ribbon
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
Step 1: Decide what you want your flag banner to say. If you’re short on time, “XMAS” is a good way to go. Got some time on your hands? Go the extra mile and opt to use “Merry Xmas” or “Happy Holidays.”
Step 2: Count the number of letters in the phrase you plan to use for your banner.
Step 3: Cut out triangles from the colored construction paper. You’ll cut one triangle for each letter in your phrase. (For example, you’ll need 4 triangles for “XMAS”)
Step 4: Glue or tape the colored triangles onto the ribbon or string of your choice.
Step 5: Write your phrase onto the triangles.
Step 6: Tape the banner to any wall or door in your home.
Step 7: (Optional) If you have Christmas lights, drape them over or around the flag banner to make it pop!
Tip: You can use any colored construction paper you like for these banners. However, if you want to be extra festive, opt for red and green. These festive flag banners also make great backgrounds for holiday pictures!
