Plot Twist: What if Jennifer Lawrence had a Medical Alert?

Did you know that Jennifer Lawrence has a bad habit of falling? Untimely falls and stumbles don’t discriminate, catching even A list actresses off-guard with unexpected accidents.

At the 85th Academy Awards, Lawrence fell on the stairs heading up to the stage to accept the award for Best Actress. One year later, she would famously fall at the same event, although this time, with a companion to hold onto. America’s mega movie star could very well benefit from a medical alert system-- preferably one with fall detection.

Whether you are everyday folk or a Hollywood celebrity, a fall detection system can decrease the likelihood of any fall-related injury that might result from being unable to get up quickly. Why? Because with an Alert1 device, you simply press a button to get help fast!

Even in several of her movies, Lawrence’s character definitely could have used an alert button. So we ask the fun question: when could a medical alarm button have ended the plot for JLaw’s many on-screen characters?

Alert1 imagined five plot-ending scenarios curtained by use of a senior medical alert system.

1. Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Lawrence became the highest grossing action heroine of all time for her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games trilogy is set in a dystopian future where young adults are pitted against each other in a combat to the death.

In a bid to save her sister from a death match, Katniss volunteers in her sister’s stead. The sequel finds Katniss entering the tournament once again. In the arena, Katniss’ weapon of choice was the bow and arrow.

But if Katniss had Alert1’s mobile medical alert wristband, a quick push of the button would have tracked her anywhere in the arena. From there, the 13th District would have found Katniss quickly. Katniss could have been saved right away without the need to undergo the deadly tournament.

2. House at the End of the Street

Since it covers 600 feet around the base station, Alert1's in-home medical alert would have saved young Elissa from being terrorized in her neighborhood. What’s more, Elissa could have benefitted from a button alert with fall detection. Being chased through the house, the highly sensitive pendant would have sensed Elissa’s falls. Alert1 would have asked through the medical alert base unit if everything was alright. If no response was given, Alert1 would have notified Elissa’s list of contacts—which could have included 911. Elissa would have been saved and found after Alert1 dispatched help in seconds .

3. X-men: First Class

Born with strange and amazing powers, mutants are outcasts of society for the mere notion of being born different. With blue skin and bodily scales, Lawrence’s character Mystique is no exception.

At the start of the movie, the young telepath Charles Xavier discovers the infant forager Mystique. If Xavier, in his panic, had pressed his alarm pendant, things would have played otherwise. Once the button is pressed, Alert1’s CSAA-certified Command Center would have responded in seconds. They would have asked the proper questions. Young Xavier would have notified them of the intruder.

Always keeping the wearer’s safety in mind, the operator would have sent help quickly. Then, proper personnel would have alerted child authorities to take Mystique away. Thus, this ends the blossoming friendship that would later help develop the first batch of the mutant superhero team, the X-Men.

4. Winter's Bone

Lawrence’s first Academy Award nomination is her portrayal of Ree Dolly in the 2010 film Winter’s Bone. In the film, Ree must locate her father in order to keep her family from being evicted from their Midwestern home.

If Ree had simply outfitted her father with an on-the-go wristband with GPS, she could have easily tracked his whereabouts. A simple button push of the device and Alert1’s operators would have notified Ree of her father’s location, leading to both house and family saved.

5. Silver Linings Playbook

Lawrence earned an Academy Award for Best Actress as Tiffany Maxwell, a widower. Her co-star Bradley Cooper played character Pat Solatano Jr, recently released from a mental institution. The film shows their budding romance in practicing for a dance competition.

The romance would have altogether not occurred had Tiffany’s husband not passed. An emergency alert button would have quickly dispatched EMS to her gravely wounded husband—possibly saving his life. Thus, Tiffany would have continued happy matrimony without the opportunity to falling in love with her sister’s dinner guest.

We Volunteer! We Volunteer!

Though a bit of a stretch, these scenarios consider how a senior medical alert system could have quickly ended the plot.  Sure, Lawrence may not have received several Oscar nominations, box office hits and the Best Actress award but it goes to show, a medical alert can save in many situations.
