Masquerade masks

Masquerade masks are great for New Year’s Parties for all ages. If you’re having a small party, you can make personalized masquerade masks for each of your guests.

You will need:

  1. Undecorated masquerade masks (purchase from a craft store, like Michael’s)
  2. Markers, color pencils, or crayons
  3. Hole puncher
  4. String
  5. Glue
  6. Glitter
  7. Feathers

Step 1: Choose an undecorated masquerade mask.
Step 2: Color the mask with any color of your choice.
Step 3: Decorate your mask with glitter and feathers to give it an extra festive touch!
Step 4: Using a hole puncher, put two holes on each side of your masquerade mask
Step 5: Tie string to each hole and adjust the length of the string so that it fits securely around your face. You’re all set!

Tip: If you’re planning to have many guests, it can be a fun activity to let everyone design their own mask at the party. Set up a table with undecorated masks and some decorating supplies. This will save you time and everyone can create beautiful masks together!

Cute photo props

Capture the first memories you and your guests make in 2017 with cute and fun photographs featuring props. If you have a polaroid camera, designate someone to be the cameraman. Now you can set up a “photo booth” for your guests.

You will need:

  1. Construction paper
  2. Scissors
  3. Glue
  4. Skewer sticks
  5. (Optional) Glitter

Step 1: Decide what kind of shapes you want to make for your props. We suggest mustaches, glasses, hats, and bow ties.
Step 2: Draw the shapes onto construction paper and cut them out.
Step 3: (Optional) Add some glittery sparkles to make your props pop!
Step 4: Glue a skewer stick to one side of each prop you’ve made.
Step 5: Take awesome pictures!

TipMaking a New Year’s flag banner is an easy way to make a festive background for your pictures. The flag banner paired with fun props are sure to make for some great pictures.

This easy craft will inspire nostalgia in your guests. Recount your favorite memories with this fun card game.

Step 2: Label each card with something to reminisce about. We suggest “Favorite memory of the year,” “Most embarrassing moment of the year,” and “Proudest moment of the year.” Be creative!
Step 3: (Optional) Decorate the back side of your cards with a little glitter.
Step 4: Now that you’ve made your cards, begin the game! Pass a card to each player and share your thoughts based on the card you receive.

Making Resolutions

Would it really be a New Year without establishing resolutions? This activity is the perfect way to kick off 2017. Go around the room and share what your New Year’s resolutions are. You may find someone who has the same resolution as you. If more people know what your resolutions are, you’ll have more friends to remind you to work towards your goals.

A New Chapter

If 2016 wasn’t a great year for you, 2017 is a chance for something new. A new year means new experiences, new things to learn, and new memories. Maintain a positive outlook and great things are sure to happen in 2017.
