Never Use a Smartwatch in Place of Life Alert® Watches

Smartwatches are all the rage these days, especially in the realm of healthcare. New technology allows these devices to include some pretty cool features, like ECG monitoring, heart rate notifications, and medical ID functions. Increasingly, smartwatches are including medical alert features to their systems.

Smartwatches are all the rage these days, especially in the realm of healthcare. New technology allows these devices to include some pretty cool features, like ECG monitoring, heart rate notifications, and medical ID functions. Increasingly, smartwatches are including medical alert features to their systems. Unfortunately, this can be very unsafe. If you’re researching Life Alert® watches, you should never settle for a smartwatch system.

While smartwatches are helpful in some situations, we have not found a medical alert function that matches the usability and accessibility of a medical alert device. Smartwatches are not designed with seniors in mind. They often have small faces and small numbers, rendering them difficult for most older folks to use. What’s more, these devices have a variety of features, which can make accessing the medical alert service difficult. With a medical alert system – whether it be Life Alert® watches or an Alert1 wristband – you’re in more experienced hands. Our systems are made specifically for senior emergencies. Smartwatches aren’t.

But are there any differences between watches and wristbands supplied by medical alert companies? In general, most of these accessories are functionally similar – they hold the medical alert button in place on the user’s wrist. However, some companies provide more opportunities for customization than others.

What to Expect from Life Alert® Watches

As with most medical alert system providers, Life Alert® gives users the option to wear their buttons on the wrist. This choice may be made for accessibility purposes, but it might also be a style decision. This makes us think that the watch is the only customization option the company offers, but we cannot find any specific wristband products on the Life Alert® website.

Life Alert® products are among the most expensive in the industry. While it appears that the Life Alert® pendant comes with a wristband option, some might expect that a high monthly fee would include a few additional options for customization. We haven’t found these on their website.

With Alert1, you’ll get one of the lowest prices in the industry with a robust set of customizable accessories. If you’re considering a medical alert pendant from Alert1, know that we have dozens of options to help make your pendant feel like a part of your wardrobe. From beaded necklaces to brightly colored wristbands, we’re sure to have an accessory to fit your style.

Alert1 Has the Customization to Suit Your Lifestyle

We know that some seniors don’t like wearing medical alert systems around their necks. That’s why we supply a variety of customizations that fit our medical alert buttons. From bracelets and wristbands to necklaces and lanyards, we can help you wear your medical alert system with style. Unless you buy from a third-party store, you won’t have this option with Life Alert® watches. With us, you can rest assured that your accessory will perfectly fit your pendant – and your personal style.
