Compare Alert1 and Freedom Alert Pendants

Senior Woman Calling Alert1

If you’re researching medical alert systems, you’ve likely come across the Freedom Alert pendant. This is a budget-friendly medical alert pendant. The device incurs a high, one-time cost and connects users to a pre-programmed phone number – either a close friend or family member, or 911. But while Freedom Alert might not come with a recurring fee, the service provided of calling a single pre-programmed number doesn’t get you the benefit of being connected to a CSAA Diamond Certified Command Center.

By contrast, Alert1 takes a more proactive approach to caring for your health. Our Command Center agents are trained to stay on the line with you and get you the help you need, no matter the type of emergency you’ve experienced. If you’re considering both Alert1 and Freedom Alert in your medical alert pendant search, this guide will help compare the two products.

What You Should Know About Freedom Alert

Freedom Alert pendants are available for only a one-time materials cost. There are no contracts, activation costs, or monthly fees. That single, one-time purchase will cost a couple hundred dollars, but some PERS users may see the lack of recurring expenses as a benefit. Unfortunately, this is rarely – if ever – the case.

Freedom Alert systems do not connect users to a qualified call center. Instead, they connect to your existing phone number, using your landline to call a pre-programed contact. This may suffice in some situations, but medical emergencies require nuance. Sometimes, you will be unable to speak. Other times, a family member will be of more use than 911. The phone operators with Alert1 are trained to work with you to figure out exactly what you need. That nuance is lost with a Freedom Alert device, which forces everyone into a one-size-fits all solution.

Additionally, with seniors living increasingly active lives, you may need a solution that works on the go. Freedom Alert is only useful in the home.

Choose Alert1 for Quality of Service

People press medical alert buttons for a variety of reasons. Sometimes, it’s because of a fall. Other times, it’s because of a non-life-threatening accident. An effective medical alert system requires a nuanced understanding of why you may be pressing your button. That type of service is only available with an on-demand call center.

A Freedom Alert pendant may be cheaper in the short term, but without a call center, you are unlikely to get the help you need. What’s more, pre-programming phone numbers into the device won’t help much if your emergency renders you unable to speak. For the fullest, most compassionate service, choose Alert1. We’ll get you the help you need, no matter your emergency.
