I purchased this alarm for my aunt Flosie a couple of years ago. Yesterday was the first time she had to use it as she passed out and was down and unable to get up. Not only did they call and talk to both of us, they actually called her daughter again on her cell phone to make sure she was on her way, then again as she was arriving at the hospital. My Dad had been experiencing shortness of breath when walking short distances along with dizziness. When I took him home just the short distance from the car to his apartment he experienced this. Taking his blood pressure it was 178/76. Pressed the button and asked for EMS. His pulse rate was in the 30's!! My 90-year old father had to use the Alert1 less than 3 months into the services. Early morning, he was feeling very uneasy. His wife who is 88 yrs. old reached for the button around her neck. In a very short time, Alert1 responded. She hollered back, "My husband is having problems breathing." No questions or delay, the Alert1 operator told the reassuring words, "help is on the way." This happened a few days later, again, after Dad was released from the hospital. A nurse was visiting, attending to Dad. She said, "We need to check with Doctor." Calling the doctor and telling her concerns, the nurse responded, "We must get your Dad back to the hospital." We called Alert1 again and apologized for calling. When making my monthly security check a few months ago, I found that though my pendant could notify your operator that I had activated the alert, your system could not respond to me through my console. Very properly, your operator notified my neighbor that there was a problem. Upon contacting your Customer Service Department, I was connected to your tech staff. What a joy this gentleman was to work with! As an 82 year old technology deficient woman, I'm sure I stretched his patience to the limit, but he was so kind and helpful as searched for my glasses, looked for a flashlight, searched for the proper telephone line, and faithfully followed his instructions. The problem was that I needed a DSL filter, which I found easily with his help. I was able to install the filter myself and felt like I had joined the hi-tech world. I ordered it for my 86-year old dad who lived by himself and it literally saved his life. He went into heart failure one afternoon and pressed the Alert1 transmitter. Within minutes, an ambulance was at the house resuscitating him and the operators had also called me, my sister and a neighbor. It was a happy ending to what otherwise would have been a tragedy. Thank goodness she was able to crawl to a table to help pull herself up. If she had been injured, no telling how long she would have laid there. Even though we live next door to them, I was uneasy wondering what could have happened or what would maybe happen next time.

Also, at this time, my husband and I were to go on a mission trip to Spain. As our departure date grew closer, I became more and more apprehensive related to leaving them without help. On the 23th of October my mother Elizabeth became ill and promptly pushed her Alert 1 button. You responded immediately, notified my brother and myself and the ambulance. Mother was admitted to the hospital for 1 week and is now in rehab. Thanks go out to the Alert1 staff because we found her in the bathroom in a very weakened state, unable to get to a phone. This is the second system I've purchased for my Mom. On New Years Eve of 2013 she was home alone and suffered a fall, and was unable to stand and did not have the strength to crawl. Fortunately, she was wearing her Alert 1 neck pendant, and was able to summon emergency responders, who then delivered her to the hospital. When it became apparent that she would not be able to live alone any longer I returned the equipment to Alert 1. After more than a year over rehab and recovery, my brother built a cottage for her to live in at his home. I had Alert1 for my elderly mother who lived alone, although down the street from me. Although I was nearby, I couldn't be with her every minute and Alert1 filled in the gaps and gave me peace of mind. In December, as I returned home from Christmas shopping, both my phone and cell phone started ringing. It was Alert1 telling me my mother had pressed the button and paramedics were en route. Because of this phone call, I was able to meet the paramedics at her home, follow to the hospital, and most importantly of all, be at her side when she died a few hours later. I cannot even express what that means to me and to my entire family. I urge anyone who cares for an elderly loved one to subscribe to this service right away. It saves lives, yes, but it also does so much more.

I tried both Alert 1 and First Alert for my 89 year old mom. Originally ordered Alert 1 and decided to switch because there was no immediate Spanish capability when the rep called replying to a distress signal. My aunt has First Alert, and I guess because it's located in S. California, the reps speak Spanish more readily. But when I got the First Alert contract, I saw that the 3-year agreement would be more difficult to get out of than what the sales rep said. I had several conversations with the First Alert people, including one of the managers, and I never felt like I was being treated like a customer (except with the over-promising sales rep).

So back to Alert 1. Two months after activating, my mom had a stroke. She was semi-conscious when we arrived at the house, and she was wearing the bracelet alert, but I guess she did not have the ability, mentally or physically, to press the button. Five weeks later, we were compelled to place her in an ALF. I called Alert 1 and they asked to return the equipment, and they were considerate enough to refund part of the yearly membership fee.

Here's my advice to caretakers looking at a home monitoring system: most systems do the same thing, but I suggest also getting an outside lock box for the key; don't commit to any contract, there's no need to and you may regret it later on; and pay it month to month, the future is unknown, no matter how healthy our folks look at the moment. I had a better customer experience with Alert 1 than with First Alert, and I recommend them.

I think it is comforting to know that my mother-in-law has an emergency button to push in case she falls or injures herself or is frightened that someone might be breaking into her home when she is alone. She is amazingly sharp, but to have to figure out the buttons to push on a phone, especially in the dark, would be a monumental task for her at this point in time.

We ordered the Alert1 for my mom who just moved out of our house and into her own apartment a couple months ago. We were very worried about her falling and not being able to get help. Alert1 was recommended to us by the rehab facility she was at before she moved in with us over a 1 1/2 year ago. I'm so glad I kept the flyer they gave us. One night, right after my mom moved into her apartment, she fell and spent the rest of the night getting up off the floor. We thought her cell phone would be enough to call for help, but it was out of reach. It tore me up to think she was stuck on the floor without help half the night. So, I found the flyer and made the call to Alert1. It arrived very quickly to her front door, and customer service has been so helpful with getting the system set up, which was very simple to do, and answering all my questions. Now my mom and all of us have the peace of mind knowing that a call for help is always within reach, which she wears around her neck. I highly recommend Alert 1!

This service has been wonderful to have for the peace of mind and "coverage" it gives. My family and I got this service for our mother to be with her for times when we can't. Although she hasn't needed it in an emergency, she has accidentally activated it. The operators have assured her that it was okay, and that it happens with most customers. They also use this opportunity to test and review the operation of the system with her, instilling a sense of confidence and alleviating anxiety that she may be charged for a false alarm. My family and I are grateful for this relatively inexpensive service. Two thumbs up and I would recommend!

In 2007, I ordered the Alert1 for my mother, who really did not want it. In September 2007, she slipped out of a chair and she pushed the button as she was unable to get off the floor. Her call for help was answered promptly and Alert1 notified my brother who was able to get her up. After my dad passed away, we purchased an Alert1 system for my mother. She fell several times and would push her button and in no time at all, EMT was there. Most of the time she just took a tumble but all was fine. Alert1 always called my sister and me to tell us of her fall. It was most comforting to know EMT was already with her while we were in route to her house. In June my mother fell and used her Alert1 – she insisted she was fine, but EMT took her to the hospital where they found she had a broken pelvis. I can’t praise Alert1 enough for being there for my mother.

Shortly after I got my Alert1, I adopted a dog. One morning when she stepped into my snow-filled yard she seemed unable to get out. I was concerned and foolishly stepped out and closed the slider behind me. I was in my night clothes. When the dog saw me, she freed herself, but I could not open the slider. I called for help but my neighbors didn’t hear me. I was cold and scared, but then I remembered my medical alert button. I pressed the button and the firemen showed up in minutes. They opened the door and wrapped me in a blanket.

I live in North Carolina and was visiting my best friend (78 years young) in Oklahoma. He had experienced a few incidents where I thought a medical alert system would be appropriate for him but he had always been reluctant to wear any type of necklace. After talking to him in great length, he agreed that he should have a system. I immediately began researching online since I decided that I would purchase it for him and make the annual bill his annual Christmas present. After reviewing numerous companies, I soon learned that no company had everything I wanted, but Alert1 offered more features that I wanted than any other. The purchase was made.

I have called Alert1 on a few occasions over these past two years and they have always been very helpful, advising me as to whether my friend was continuing to test the system each month. After continuous lecturing, he continued to refuse to wear his necklace. Most recently, he experienced a bad fall in his kitchen and was unable to reach the alert system, passed out and remained on the floor for nearly 24 hours until his maid arrived and summoned assistance. After recovering from the hospital, he assured me that he would wear his necklace religiously and has today. I immediately contacted Alert1 and inquired as to whether "fall detection" was ever going to be a part of their alert system. I was thrilled to find out that it just became available for only $3.00 extra per month and ordered it on the spot. The necklace is being sent to my friend as we speak. Can't say enough great things about this company. So many features including range extenders, lock boxes, and now, automatic fall detection. Always available to answer any questions you may have and always cheerful and polite. Thanks for all the great service. Look forward to a long relationship.

My parents both wear their alarms continually - and they frequently go off due to accidentally bumping them, etc. The staff there are very friendly and caring and do a wonderful job. On one occasion when I couldn't be reached, an ambulance was dispatched and were there immediately. Fortunately, they weren't needed, but it was so reassuring that if it had been necessary, my parents would have had the help they needed. Everyone does an outstanding job. Many thanks.
